Michael Robinson is a New Zealand born artist who creates single author jewels from his studio in Boston, Massachusetts.

Single author means no other person touches the jewelry or artworks created by Michael. There is no workshop of assistants and designers, there is no casting or computer aided design. Michael hand forges each piece of metal and sculpts the jewelry, completing it with hand-set diamonds and gemstones. Michael paints every stroke of his complex jewelry renderings and lover's eye miniatures. Michael chooses to work this way because it is important to him that anything he signs his name to is truly, authentically and antirely of his hand.

Michael also enjoys hand rendering in watercolour, as well as creating aluminum and steels vessel on his 19th century lathe. Michael has lectured widely on the subject of metalsmithing and jewelry design for art schools and museums, and will teach the Grand Masters program at GRS in the fall of 2025, a program widely known as the best training place for experienced jewelers and engravers to advance their craft.

Michael currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts where he lives with his wife Caroline, a gemologist.
